Tali means "rope" in both Tetum and Bahasa Indonesia.
How was the Tali earring made?
This earring design has 3 main parts; the charm was melted from solid 9 carat recycled gold granules on a charcoal block then pressed with a steel block which creates a rustic surface; the chains were made from pulled gold wires - shaped and soldered to create imperfect rings linked together; and the butterfly back is connected to the chain to provide a secure fastening function.
How did the Tali Collection start?
The Tali Collection started from one earring that Risza made from experimenting when she went through her personal family issues. She wears it every day, it gained attention, so she made some more for her customers. She is calling her earring Tali Zero : )
It is a statement piece of jewellery to keep forever – a gentle reminder of family struggles, the sense of belonging in a new place/country, but also the fact that family is home.
