Jakarta-born jewellery designer and maker Risza Lopes da Cruz explores the quiet power of objects — how they carry memory, ritual and meaning across time.

With Timorese family roots and a childhood spent in Indonesia, I draw inspiration from ceremonial objects, heirlooms and symbolic forms from my heritage, reworking them into contemporary jewellery.

My work is a conversation between heritage and modern life. I work primarily in precious metals, allowing texture, movement and the marks of making to remain visible. No two pieces are ever quite the same.

Now based in Brighton, I make jewellery to be worn often, lived with and eventually passed on — pieces that gather their own stories over time.

The studio was originally founded as Risza Jewellery and became Risza Lopes da Cruz in 2026, marking a more personal chapter in my practice.
