This one-of-a-kind pair celebrates difference rather than symmetry.
Two individually made 2cm Belak are paired with large baroque freshwater pearls, each with its own shape, surface, colour and lustre.
The pearls are deliberately not identical. Their differences are what drew me to them.
The Belak are equally individual: cut, shaped and marked separately by hand, leaving subtle variations between one and the other.
Inspired by the traditional Timorese medallion associated with bravery and honour, Pearl Belak brings this inherited form into a new conversation with the unpredictability of natural pearl.
